My name is Pekka Mykkänen. I am the US correspondent of the Finnish-language Helsingin Sanomat, the largest Scandinavian daily, published in Finland. This simple website is a brief introduction to my work, including photography, that has taken me to dozens of countries from Japan to Somalia and from The United States to Afghanistan. I have covered over ten different conflicts. I worked as my newspaper's China and Asia correspondent for five years (1998-2003). After my period in Asia I spent a year as a Nieman journalism fellow at Harvard University. I began my work in the US in August 2006. I am based in Washington DC.LOL]
